Welcome to Platte River Academy

Welcome to the website for Platte River Academy (PRA), a K-8 Core Knowledge charter school located in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  This year (2010-11) marks our 14th year in the business of providing a quality education for students in Douglas County.

This website provides lots of information to the general public, our staff, and the PRA parent community. It has been created and designed to provide you the information that we have heard is important to you. Please enjoy “discovering” what PRA is really about as you surf our site.

If you do not find the information that you need or want, please feel free to call the office or send us an email. We will certainly try our best to respond to your questions or direct you to someone who can answer them. Additionally, the general public is always invited to attend one of our prospective parent meetings to get face-to-face with Mr. Bob Barber, Assistant Principal, or me and receive a more personal picture of PRA.

Platte River Academy (PRA) believes a challenging curriculum mastered by students creates high self-esteem and involvement in active learning. Students are treated as unique individuals. PRA ability groups students and sets high standards for academics and appropriate behavior. Staff and community are united with parents in teaching the building blocks for character development and informed citizenship including responsibility, respect, integrity, and compassion. We value children as unique individuals and encourage them to become lifelong learners and valuable members of our school community and global society.
